Urban
I found this local attraction purely by coincidence driving "home" to my AirBnb in Mid-Wilshire one evening, and had to stop for a photo (which, of course, led to a hundred more). This is one of my favorites for showing the enormous scale of the art-installation. "Urban Light" is a large-scale assemblage sculpture by Chris Burden located at the Wilshire Boulevard entrance to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The 2008 installation consists of restored street lamps from the 1920s and 1930s. Most of them once lit the streets of Southern California.
Summer evening at Malibu Farm on Malibu Pier
Walking along these canals on this warm summer evening, I was mesmerized by the soft pink light cast over the water in the warm glow of sunset.
Pink sunset on a warm summer evening on the Venice, California canals.
I must have taken 30 frames of this amazing sky in the 5 minutes it existed. It was like nature painted a picture right then and there for me.
Calm waters and a hot summer evening on the canals in Venice Beach, California
While walking back from the beach along the pier, I took a look back at the midway lights cast across the remaining minute of blue hour. It felt like I was looking at a "Blade Runner-esque" oasis in the desert with all the colorful lights and the industrial vibe you only get from this view.
One of my favourite place in the world. This photo taken pre-pandemic, Griffith Observatory is an icon of Los Angeles, a national leader in public astronomy, a beloved civic gathering place, and one of southern California's most popular attractions. The mission of Griffith Observatory is to inspire everyone to observe, ponder, and understand the sky. Admission to the Observatory building and grounds is sadly closed until visitors are safe to mingle again, but the building stands to inspire us into the future.
California is never better looking than as the sun dips behind the horizon and the city lights begin to appear.
Lower Manhattan skyline from Dumbo Brooklyn at the magic moment when sky and water share the same luminance to cast colour reflections across the river.
