While strolling the streets of Montmartre near the Basilica of Sacré Coeur on this hot August evening just after sunset, I came across this spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower as it began its dazzling light show under the glow of the moon.
The Alexandre III Bridge in the heart of Paris is an art installation of its own. From the intricately detailed sculptures to the enchanting wrought iron lamp posts. the Pont Alexandre III is never seen without adoring crowds, shown here as ghosts to feature this view towards Les Invalides: Series of army museums including a church & the tombs of many famed officers, including Napoleon.
I've seen a lot of great sunsets, but not for so many vibrant nights in a row as I saw on the Seine in Paris. The Eiffel Tower seems to be some kind of divining rod for brilliant skies.
Standing on the bank of the Couesnon River at the shore of Normandy, I was awed by the beauty of sunrise behind magical Mont Saint Michel. To think this very silhouette has been admired by Man for more than 1300 years, I felt deeply fortunate to have such a view to myself on this extraordinary morning.
Blue hour summons the radiance of seaside-wonderland Mont Saint Michel and its guiding beacon on the Normandy coastline.
A beautiful summer evening strolling through the streets of Montmartre and came across this picturesque cafe bustling with tourists.
Iconic locations like La Maison Rose are peppered on every cobbled street throughout Montmartre, one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Paris.
Magnificent Mont Saint Michel just as the sun peeked out from the horizon. It's in these very still and quiet early morning hours that you fully sense the ghosts of history surrounding this mythical and magical place, and I was mesmerized in this moment by its beauty in first light.
I'd waited years to come to Paris to photograph its endless iconic structures including, near the top of my list, a photo of the Louvre Museum: the epicentre of masterful blends of reality and fantasy for centuries. My late-mother had intended to be here as a brilliant painter largely influenced by the French Impressionists, and so, in her honour, I arose at 5 AM this day to take not one photo of the Louvre as intended, but 40 images to capture the rich detail of this monument to the Arts in one 385 megapixel frame. I hope you enjoy it, but for me, this represents the extraordinary warmth and beauty of my mother in every way, and I will forever feel her presence when I gaze at it on my wall.
Magical sunset sky on the Eiffel Tower from the Alexandre III Bridge captured moments after the sun disappeared behind the Paris skyline. And as a bonus to this spectacular sky in one of the most beautiful locations in Paris, I particularly loved the way the red clouds on the right happened to balance the visual weight of the lamp post on the left in the frame. Like staring at a live postcard.
