Inspired by our world in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic, this series of photos isolates subjects from their "regular world" around them, representing various emotions and frustrations we feel while being effectively locked away from public life. The photos were posted on social media as a way of sharing what many are feeling with each passing day, and offering hope in that you're not alone, and we're all in this together. Thankfully, these photos were very well received, and even generated several print sales even though they were never offered for sale.
Inspired by our world in isolation during COVID-19, this photo captures the life-blood and strength of this great city: our Toronto streetcars as part of our most essential public transit system.
Isolation Series #2 features the magnificent indoor pool of the Grand Hotel in Downtown Toronto. As people are still getting used to the idea of remaining in their homes for the foreseeable future in week two of the COVID-19 lockdown, this photo was posted to inspire patience to the restless, and show them that the fun in life they've become accustomed to, will still be there when this is over so long as they remain vigilant in their efforts to protect themselves and others from the virus.
Isolation Series #4 - envy of outdoor activities put on hold.
Isolation Series #3 - an inviting blue canoe in the Venice Beach Canals of Southern California. Another reminder to stay home and stay calm; the best way back to smooth sailing.
Isolation Series #5 is of the last remaining structure on the famous Paramount Ranch lot after the Woolsey Fire tore through the Western Town in the Santa Monica Mountains early Nov. 9, 2018, destroying the rustic buildings used for decades in movies and on television.
Isolation Series #6 - with the COVID-19 cases beginning to drop in Ontario, people are bursting to get outside as soon as we're giving the green light.
Isolation Series #7 was actually my first subject isolation taken and processed in 2015. My niece snapped this shot from the car behind us as I was showing my wife Los Angeles for the first time. I chose to process the photo this way to isolate the thrill I get whenever I'm in this self-declared "second home".
My son glowing in the July California sunset in the Santa Monica Mountains of Calabasas just 7 months after the infamous Woolsey Wildfire decimated this region.
Isolation Series #9 captures the moment my other twin son, Jesse, completed his first original public artwork on the graffiti wall at Venice Beach.
